For our Master of Forest Conservation (MFC) program

For our Master of Science in Forestry (MScF) program

For our PhD program

Occasionally, currently-registered MScF students with an average of at least A- in the first year of the MScF program who have demonstrated superior research capabilities may be considered for transfer to our PhD program before the end of their first year in the MScF program.

In exceptional circumstances, an extraordinarily strong applicant with an appropriate bachelor’s degree from a recognized university may be approved for admission directly into the PhD program.  Applicants who have not completed a Master’s program and who wish to apply under this category should select the “PhD (direct entry)” degree program.

Referee Reports

When completing the online application form, you will be required to enter contact information for three referees. Once your payment is received, the system will send invitations to your referees asking them to complete the referee report. Please speak to your referees ahead of time to confirm their availability and willingness to participate before submitting their contact details on the online application form.

Letter of Interest or Intent

If you’re applying for the MFC program, you’re required to submit a 250-500 word letter of interest describing the relevance of your background and interests to the program and your reasons for applying.

MScF and PhD applicants are required to submit a letter of intent indicating the following:

  • The forestry sub-field in which you wish to conduct research (if the area of interest is broad, such as forest biology, a particular area should be specified, e.g., forest soils, forest entomology, etc.)
  • A brief description of your proposed research
  • 2 to 4 courses relevant to your proposed research
  • Why you wish to obtain your MScF/PhD degree
  • A Faculty member you would prefer to fulfill the role of your supervisor

Please note that the above admission requirements are for your guidance only and meeting the minimum requirements does not in any way guarantee admission.
